Surf Lifeguard (Casual)


Description
As a surf lifeguard at The Wave, you will see hundreds of visitors surfing each day, abilities ranging from internationally recognised pro surfers to young children who have never surfed before. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all our visitors, therefore you will champion health and safety and contribute to the Wave’s proactive safety culture. This is a customer facing role and you will appreciate the importance of providing a friendly, supportive service. You will play a key role with in a large, surf operations team and will be expected to assist in other areas of the department when required, such as the surf desk.

What you’ll be up to:
• Responsible for providing emergency medical aid and water response.
• Understanding your role in the provision of an excellent customer experience.
• Identify and address any visitors failing to follow the correct rules and safety procedures.
• Working with our surf coaches to ensure that session crossover is completed in an efficient and safe manner.
• Maintaining cleanliness and general upkeep of the Surf Ops areas.
• Remaining vigilant of any housekeeping or maintenance issues and report concerns to the appropriate individual.
• Actively promote and educate visitors on excellent surf etiquette.

Skills and Attributes:
• A minimum requirement of beach lifeguard qualification Is essential.
• Excellent communication skills.
• A strong desire to ensure the safety and well-being of others.
• Strong attention to detail, especially with regards to Health and Safety, with an ability to spot trends and errors
• A proactive and ambitious mindset, with a desire to ‘muck-in’!
• A passion for sustainability, health and well-being and the natural world
• Will need to obtain and keep a clean DBS check as part of safeguarding requirements
