The Arts Club is a distinguished private members' club located in Mayfair, London, founded in 1863, as a haven for those with a professional or amateur relationship with the Arts, Literature or Sciences, and it has continued to welcome a community of discerning thinkers and thought leaders ever since. Over the years, it has attracted renowned artists, writers, and cultural icons, including Charles Dickens, Thomas Hughes, Paolo Tosti, Charles Halle, Frederic Leighton, Auguste Rodin and James McNeill Whistler.

Job Summary:

The Senior Bartender is responsible for delivering exceptional beverage service across all bar areas, ensuring the highest standards of quality, presentation, and member experience. This role combines expert cocktail and beverage knowledge with strong leadership, supporting the bar team in day-to-day operations, driving sales through proactive engagement, and maintaining a refined, professional atmosphere. The Senior Bartender plays a key role in coaching junior team members, managing stock and service standards, and creating a memorable and discreet experience for members and guests.  

Key Responsibilities

· Lead the preparation and service of beverages, including cocktails, wines, and spirits, to the highest standards.

· Deliver an engaging and personalised guest experience, including demonstrating “theatre” in drink preparation where appropriate.

· Proactively maximise sales through upselling and strong product knowledge.

· Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, organisation, and presentation across all bar areas.

· Support bar operations across multiple outlets, adapting to different service styles and environments.

· Oversee stock control, including ordering, storage, and minimising wastage.

· Ensure all beverages are served in line with legal and company standards.

· Handle guest feedback and minor complaints professionally, escalating where necessary.

· Support the training and development of bartenders and junior team members.

· Maintain accurate recording of sales and ensure all items are correctly charged.

· Uphold hygiene, health, safety, and security procedures at all times.

· Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure seamless service delivery.

· Demonstrate professionalism, discretion, and a strong presence when interacting with members and guests.

· Attend training sessions and meetings as required.

· Carry out any other reasonable duties assigned by management.
