Deputy Head Greenkeeper
Description
We are currently accepting applications for the position of Deputy Head Greenkeeper for the Belfry Hotel and Golf Resort, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands.
The Resort has been awarded ‘England’s Leading Resort & England’s Best Golf Hotel’ the past two years and ‘Europe’s Best Golf Resort’ 2016. The Belfry is proud of its rich sporting history and heritage, hosting the Ryder Cup four times in 1985, 1989, 1993 & 2002.
Working as part of our Greenkeeping team, you will be responsible for the ensuring our golf courses are presented to the highest level.
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, 5 days over 7 including weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deputise in the absence of the Head Greenkeeper.
• Deliver the daily morning briefing to the team.
• Assist in the training and development programme for the team.
• Oversee the daily set up of the golf course to the required standard.
• Perform all golf course checks, tees, fairways, rough, approaches, greens, pitch-marking and holes in line with 59 Club benchmarking and SOP’s
• Assist with the weekly planning: cutting schedules, bunker maintenance, hole changing, stock check, i.e., flags, flagpoles, bins, ball washers and towels and general course maintenance.
• Assist the Head GK in supervising any work programmes in place and help maintain spraying and chemical records.
• Plan and organise nutrition plans for the year.
• Assist the Head Greenkeeper with the implementation of all Health & Safety.
• To attend any hotel meetings in the absence of the Head Greenkeeper.
• To be actively involved in all budgeting and ordering with the department
• To assist with job chats, return to work interviews, disciplinary issues and general staff welfare.
• To assist in the recruitment, induction, training, development and management of the greenkeeping department.
• Responsible for recording data related to the golf course i.e., spraying records, rainfall and performance data.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To carry out any other duties that may be necessary from time to time and are commensurate with the level of appointment.
