Who We Are
Cubitt House is a collection of eight distinctive London pubs celebrated for their seasonal British menus, impeccable hospitality, and timeless interiors. Inspired by master architect Thomas Cubitt, we honour London’s heritage by creating vibrant spaces that feel both elegant and welcoming. Our pubs—including The Thomas Cubitt, The Alfred Tennyson, The Orange, The Princess Royal, and The Grazing Goat—blend British craftsmanship with a sense of community, partnering with the finest artisans and producers to deliver exceptional experiences.
We are more than a pub group—we are a family of passionate individuals dedicated to craft, creativity, and genuine service. At Cubitt House, we believe in celebrating people and places through thoughtful design, locally sourced food, and warm, memorable moments.
The Role
We’re looking for a Bar Manager to lead the bar team at The Alfred Tennyson—a stunning luxury multifaceted venue in the heart of Belgravia. Combining two personalities under one roof, this role seeks a dynamic and creative individual to lead from the front.
On the first floor, guests enjoy a refined, luxury experience with elegant cocktails, premium wines, and a sophisticated atmosphere in our dining space Alfie’s. Downstairs, the ground floor delivers lively pub energy with perfectly poured pints, buzzing service, and a welcoming, fast-paced vibe for our community.
As Bar Manager, you’ll bring both worlds to life—combining the detail and finesse of luxury hospitality with the fun and camaraderie of a traditional pub. You’ll lead a passionate bar team, drive innovation through seasonal cocktails and premium spirits, and ensure smooth operations every day.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead, train, and inspire a small, passionate bar team to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
• Oversee day-to-day bar operations, including cellar management and stock control.
• Maintain high standards of service across both luxury cocktail service and lively pub settings.
• Develop and innovate seasonal cocktail menus, premium spirit selections, and curated wine pairings.
• Drive operational excellence, cost control, and compliance with health and safety standards.
• Create a positive, engaging team culture that thrives under pressure and celebrates success.
Skills & Experience
• Previous experience as a Bar Manager in a premium pub, cocktail bar, or luxury hospitality environment.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
• A passion for premium drinks, cocktail innovation, and exceptional service.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage a busy, dual-style venue.
• Knowledge of cellar management, stock control, and cost management best practices.
On The House
At Cubitt House, our people are at the heart of everything we do. They bring our pubs to life, and we believe exceptional work deserves exceptional rewards. When you join our team, here’s what you can look forward to:
• Competitive salary plus excellent service charge and bonus scheme.
• Perkbox – 30 points every month to spend however you like.
• Enhanced maternity and paternity leave.
• Wagestream, pension & cycle-to-work scheme.
• Employee of the Month recognition & reward programmes.
• Supplier trips, tastings, and external learning opportunities.
• Delicious staff meals while on shift.
• Monthly Bar Academy for cocktail mastery and premium drinks training.
• Quarterly staff socials, competitions, and a legendary Christmas party.
• Language development school to help you grow.
• Work anniversary reward – £100 per year up to 5 years, then £150 per year thereafter.
• A bottle of champagne on your birthday.
• 50% off food & drink across all Cubitt House pubs.
• Clear career progression within a respected, growing hospitality group.
• A supportive, passionate culture that values both skill and character.
