The Arts Club presents an exciting opportunity for an aspiring chef to join its brigade of creative and diverse culinary professionals. The Commis Chef will be responsible for carrying out the day-to-day duties within assigned kitchen section(s), working in line with the club’s operating concept. They will ensure all recipes and standards are consistently followed, while actively supporting practical demonstrations and maintaining the highest levels of quality, consistency, and attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook dishes delegated as your responsibility by the Chef in charge
- Take tasks and requests from the Chef in charge and carry them out in correct manner
- Ensure that specification of portion size and quantity of particular dish has been followed, as set out in the recipe index
- Complete the daily check list received by the Chef in charge regarding mise-en-place and food storage
- Report any failure of kitchen equipment, and follow up to ensure the necessary maintenance work has been carried out
- Keep section clean and tidy at all times, and make sure all items are labelled with dates
- Help to prevent waste of food and over-production to mise-en-place, and keep food order from store or supplies to a minimum.
