Description

Located in the heart of Mayfair, The Arts Club is one of London’s oldest private members’ clubs and home to a community of members with a passion for the creative arts, literature, and business. From distinguished art exhibitions to fine dining, live music, and an exceptional programme of events for members, the club remains at the heart of contemporary cultural life in London.

People & Culture Manager

We are looking for an experienced and proactive People & Culture Manager to play a key role in shaping a high‑performing, inclusive and values‑led workplace culture.

Reporting to the People & Culture Director, this is a broad, hands‑on role with real impact. You will lead core People & Culture activities across the employee lifecycle while also driving learning and development initiatives that build capability, strengthen leadership effectiveness and support long‑term organisational performance.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working at both a strategic and operational level, thrives in a fast‑moving environment, and is passionate about developing people and culture.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading end‑to‑end recruitment and onboarding, ensuring effective processes, strong hiring outcomes and a positive candidate experience
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to managers on employee relations, performance, absence and people risk
  • Delivering engaging learning and leadership development initiatives aligned to business needs
  • Supporting performance management processes including probation, annual appraisals and succession planning
  • Driving employee engagement, wellbeing, recognition and employer branding initiatives
  • Coaching and developing People & Culture team members and partnering closely with leaders across the organisation
  • Using people data and insights to inform decision‑making and continuous improvement

About you

  • An experienced People & Culture / HR generalist, ideally from a service‑led, luxury and fast‑paced environment.
  • At least 2 years’ managerial experience, with confidence leading and developing others.
  • Confident across employee relations, recruitment and learning & development — efficient, practical and always thinking about the bigger picture and what will matter long term.
  • Strong, up‑to‑date knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • A natural coach who enjoys developing managers and helping teams do their best work (and not dreads performance conversations).
  • Known for sound, balanced judgement — empathetic, objective and trusted with sensitive matters.
  • Organised, adaptable and calm under pressure, able to juggle priorities without dropping the ball.
  • Comfortable building strong relationships at all levels and influencing without needing a job title to do the talking.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to culture, capability and performance while working closely with senior leaders in a collaborative, people‑focused environment.

In return, we offer an excellent range of rewards and benefits, including:

  • Private medical benefits
  • Life Assurance
  • Long Service Awards
  • Reward Gateway Benefits Shceme
  • Discounts on food & beverage in our restaurants and sister businesses
  • An exciting range of learning and development programmes & opportunities for continual progression
  • Enhanced maternity pay
  • Enhanced sickness pay
  • Complimentary meals while on shift
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Birthday extra day off

*Terms and conditions apply to all the above benefits

Eligibility: In line with the requirements of the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996, all applicants must either be eligible to live and work in the UK or must obtain permits to work in the UK prior to application. Documented evidence of eligibility will be required from candidates as part of the recruitment process.

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. We value diversity and encourage people of all different backgrounds, experiences, abilities and perspectives to apply. However applicants must have the Right to Work in the UK.

Note: Recruitment agencies, we love what you do, but this time we’ve got it covered—so no need to call us. Thanks for understanding!
