Description

Assistant People & Culture Manager

Full time | On-site

A Stage Unlike Any Other

In 1863, a group of artists, writers, and free thinkers gathered with a shared conviction: that the finest conversation, the boldest ideas, and the warmest hospitality belonged together under one roof. Charles Dickens dined here. Whistler argued here. Rodin was inspired here.

The Arts Club was born not as a venue, but as a living expression of creative life — and it has never stopped.

At the heart of that life today are the people and spaces that bring our club to life every day. This is more than an operation — it is an environment where members connect, create, and return time and time again because something about it feels truly special.

It takes an exceptional person to be part of that.

That person might be you.

Be part of building an exceptional workplace where people and performance thrive together.

We are looking for a proactive and people-focused Assistant People & Culture Manager to join our People & Culture team. Reporting to the People & Culture Manager, you will play an important role in delivering exceptional people practices, supporting employee engagement initiatives, and partnering with managers to create a positive, high-performing workplace culture.

This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys building strong relationships, guiding managers through people matters, and helping to create a workplace where employees can thrive.

What you'll be doing

  • Support and advise managers on employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance issues.
  • Manage employee relations cases and ensure HR processes remain compliant and up to date.
  • Coach managers on people management best practices and UK employment law.
  • Support employee engagement, wellbeing and retention initiatives.
  • Lead and support recruitment activities, partnering with hiring managers to attract great talent.
  • Assist with compensation and benefits administration, salary benchmarking and market reviews.
  • Produce HR reports and people metrics to support business decision-making.
  • Review and maintain HR policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance and support to junior members of the People & Culture team.

 About you

  •  Minimum 3 years' People & Culture / HR experience, ideally within hospitality, luxury, service-led or similarly fast-paced environments.
  • Experience handling employee relations matters, recruitment and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Good working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Confident, practical and professional when managing sensitive people issues.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proactive, solutions-focused and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and coaching skills, with a genuine passion for people and culture.

The successful candidate will be a trusted HR professional who combines sound judgement, professionalism and empathy with a strong focus on delivering excellent people practices and supporting a positive, high-performing workplace culture.

In return, we offer an excellent range of rewards and benefits, including:

  • Private medical benefits
