Description

Come and join our team as an Assistant Food & Beverage Manager and let your passion and personality shine.

We're looking for an exceptional Assistant Food & Beverage Manager to support the leadership of our front-of-house operations across two distinctive dining outlets:

  • The Pantry Restaurant – relaxed, seasonal dining
  • The Priory Restaurant – fine dining for breakfast, afternoon tea, and celebratory dinners

You'll also help oversee meetings and events operations, as well as room service, ensuring every guest experience is seamless and memorable.

This is a hands-on role for someone passionate about outstanding food, fine wine, and delivering exceptional hospitality. Working closely with the Food & Beverage Manager, Executive Chef, and senior management team, you'll play an important role in shaping the guest journey while supporting and inspiring a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Become knowledgeable about our menus, wines, and beverages so you can confidently guide and advise guests.
  • Support the Food & Beverage Manager with the day-to-day operation of all food and beverage outlets.
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and developing team members.
  • Help train and coach colleagues to deliver outstanding service standards.
  • Lead shifts and act as a role model, ensuring smooth service and a positive team culture.
  • Build strong relationships across departments and contribute to a collaborative working environment.
  • Ensure all guests receive a memorable and personalised experience.
  • Support meetings, events, and room service operations as required.
  • Work flexibly across departments when needed, embracing our "one team" approach.

What We Offer

  • Salary: £32,000–£35,000 per annum
  • Approx. £2,500 in service charge & gratuities
  • Career development opportunities within a prestigious hotel group
  • Extensive employee benefits and discounts

The Operation

Pantry Restaurant

  • 40+ covers, plus an additional 40+ seats on the Garden Terrace
  • All-day dining, 7 days a week

Priory Restaurant

  • 50+ covers
  • 3 AA Rosettes
  • Breakfast and Afternoon Tea daily
  • Dinner service Wednesday to Sunday

Located at the heart of our 33-bedroom hotel, awarded 1 Michelin Key and 5 AA Red Stars.

The Team

You'll be part of a front-of-house team comprising:

  • 7 full-time team members
  • 16 part-time and casual team members

Why You'll Love It Here

Work/life – or as it should be called, life/work – balance is important to us. We always aim to be fair with our rotas and simply ask for flexibility in return.

  • Work alongside a talented and well-rounded team.
  • Real opportunities for career growth and personal development.
  • A culture that values personality as much as professionalism.
  • A supportive environment where thoughtfulness towards colleagues and guests is encouraged.
  • Competitive pay, plus service charge and gratuities.
  • Access to retail and hospitality perks through our Perkbox platform.
  • Excellent discounts across our family of hotels, including:
    • 25% off food and beverage
    • £25 B&B staff rate across the group
    • Special friends and family rates
  • Employee Assistance Programme with a confidential external helpline.
  • Free meals whilst on duty.
  • Industry-leading training and development pathways.
  • Opportunities to progress throughout the Brownsword Hotels group.
  • Long-service recognition and milestone awards, including hotel stays, dining experiences, additional leave, and personalised gifts.

Who We're Looking For

  • Previous management experience within quality food and beverage operations.
  • Experience in luxury hospitality, fine dining, Michelin-recognised, or AA Rosette environments is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of food, wine, and service standards.
  • A hands-on, lead-from-the-front approach.
  • Excellent communication and people management skills.
  • Ability to support multiple outlets while maintaining high service standards.
  • Commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Bar and mixology knowledge is advantageous.
  • Someone who understands that great service is effortless, intuitive, and never stuffy.

Location

The Bath Priory, part of the Brownsword family of hotels, enjoys a fantastic location in Bath, just a short walk from the city centre with a bus stop right outside.
