POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Mowing, string trimming, leaf clean-up, sweeping, watering, weeding, mulching, planting, litter management, and special event set up.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays as needed
  • Individuals will have to be self-motivated, organized, attentive to details, and have time management skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Consistently serve as an ambassador to The Inn at Little Washington in all interactions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidate to have a minimum of 3 years of prior full-time experience in estate/fine garden management, commercial landscape maintenance, high end residential landscape maintenance or design/build, resort landscape maintenance, or other similar landscape focused discipline that provides practical field experience relating to a large, detail oriented, horticulturally diverse property or properties.
  • Shall hold a valid Virginia Driver’s License and shall have reliable transportation.
  • Be available for weekend work, overtime, and winter storm services as required.
  • Experience with a variety of small engine equipment: mowers, line trimmers, bed ledgers, mechanical shears, backpack blower, etc.
  • Chain saw/tree experience a plus.
  • Experience with basic landscape hand tools required.

SKILLS

  • Have a functional knowledge of and the ability to diagnose basic plant health problems, to include diseases and pest infestations.
  • Have a high level of plant identification skills and practical horticultural knowledge.
  • Have an understanding of teams, and the ability to work well with different personalities to maximize performance and efficiency of varying tasks and situations that may arise during the work period.
  • Have the ability to implement and manage the safety programs within the Grounds & Gardens Division. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Extended periods of time to be spent on feet. Position requires full mobility across uneven terrain.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment, performing a wide range of landscape related tasks in an often-dusty environment with exposure to pollen and other such natural conditions.
