Purpose of the Position:
The primary objective is to ensure that production of food products are made to the agreed quality and specification, complying with business and customer requirements. In addition, key areas of responsibility include assisting senior management team in smooth running of daily production operations by supporting the team and driving efficiencies, maintaining food safety, quality and legality and H&S standards at all times.
Key Activities & Responsibilities:
• Achieving the daily/weekly food production plan, ensure it is completed in full and in a timely manner.
• Working to and following the production recipes, systems and procedures ensuring product quality, food safety and legality are maintained.
• Ensure that all equipment checks are completed and cleaned during and post production.
• Carry out Daily/Weekly/Monthly stock takes.
• The correct care and safe use of all company equipment is adhered to at all times.
• To ensure cleanliness and hygiene are maintained, observing and following the “clean as you go” policy.
• To ensure product is correctly labelled and rotated, maintaining first in first out principles.
• Ensure all production and technical paperwork is thoroughly and accurately completed.
• Cooking and mixing large and small batches of products, requiring manual stirring, mixing, and monitoring.
• Will come into contact allergens, raw and cooked food.
• Will involve lifting as well as bending, stretching and standing depending on the task allocated.
• The operation is carried out in a cold or hot production area, it could be in full PPE which will be provided.
• Must be able to commit to flexible working shift patterns as and when the job demands.
• Ability to follow written and spoken instructions.
• Have a good understanding of Health and Safety requirements and adhere to them at all times.
• Have good concentration and observation, even when tasks are repetitive.
• To work in a team based environment, alongside managers and other employees.
• Via both formal and informal meetings, ensure line managers are updated.
• Through the department, provide ongoing intelligence/data/information that can be used by others in order to make more informed decisions.
• Ensure that all applicable legislations and standards (H&S, Food Hygiene regulations, BRC, SALSA, etc) are adhered to and that any violations are reported.
• Maintain and contribute to a working knowledge of policies and regulations.
• Carry out specific projects or activities as directed by your line manager.
Key Attributes:
• Previous Experience in food production would be advantageous.
• Good understanding of written and spoken English is essential.
• Attention to detail with the ability to follow specific instructions and procedures to ensure high-quality output.
• Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team to reach production goals.
• Punctual and reliable to meet deadlines.
• Awareness of safety protocols and practices to adhere to in order to maintain a safe working environment.
• Physical Stamina in order to lift heavy goods up to 25kg.
• Flexibility in start and finish times.
Working Pattern - 40 hours per week, 5 days out of 7 (including weekends), overtime hours are paid at the flat rate. Start time and finish will depend on the rota as defined by the business.
