About the role
With our business expanding at an incredible pace, we are looking for dedicated and motivated individuals to join our team. We now have an exciting opportunity for a Driver’s Mate to helping our drivers to deliver goods in-full and on-time to our customers.
This role is a vital part of the transportation and logistics team and involves ensuring the accurate and secure delivery of food products to customers, following delivery instructions, and maintaining proper handling and storage procedures. It also requires compliance with health and safety laws, effective communication with customers and internal teams, and completing necessary administrative tasks related to deliveries.
Key Activities & Responsibilities:
· Ensuring that you are fully briefed for your run and you are issued with your run box containing all relevant keys and POD’s
· Working with the driver to check and ensure the vehicle is roadworthy and compliant.
· Packing and loading the vehicle when required (post deployment loading), taking account of the delivery order and making sure that items are easily accessible, and checking the load is safe and secure.
· Telephoning customers to confirm delivery times or liaising with the customer service teams on any change to ETA’s.
· Working alongside the driver on planning routes, navigating and advising the driver about diversions, and assisting the driver when parking in tight spaces.
· Checking that all of the items are accounted for against delivery sheets and that any shortages are documented and reported.
· The POD is checked that it has been signed by both the driver and the customer, and that there are no shortages recorded
· When delivering to a customer’s site ensure all goods are put in the correct storage areas this will mean taking the goods to the relevant fridges and freezers with in the restaurants
· Ensuring photographs are taken of all deliveries and stored/shared in the company Vanlogik POD system.
· Obtaining delivery signatures from customers and reporting back any delivery issues to customer services/ops teams.
· When returning to base, fulfilling debrief and compliance requirements before your shift ends - checking in all POD’s, customer keys and any phones containing Vanlogik
The working week is an average of 48 hours over 17 weeks.
Working pattern: Nights 8pm start
Working pattern: Days 5am start
