You will be professional and safety conscious in your outlook, with a passion for fresh produce and a helpful and productive attitude.

As Quality Control you will be responsible for ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of food and ingredient products throughout the warehouse distribution process. This role involves inspecting, testing, and evaluating fresh, frozen and ambient goods to ensure they meet agreed specification and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with operations, supply chain, procurement teams and suppliers to maintain high-quality standards required by the business and its clients.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections of food and ingredient products at inbound, storage and outbound to assess quality, appearance, and adherence to specifications.
  • Guarantee the safety, authenticity, legality (such as labeling & allergens) and overall quality of our food products.
  • Perform quality control tests, including but not limited to visual inspections, sensory evaluations, and measurements of key attributes relating to the product(s).
  • Identify and report product defects, non-conformities, or safety hazards to relevant stakeholders and take appropriate corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with teams across the business to manage quality issues and implement corrective and preventive measures to improve product quality and consistency.
  • Maintaining detailed inspection records, completing quality reports, and documenting any non-conformities or deviations from standards.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives by identifying areas for improvement in quality control procedures and processes.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance and quality of incoming food products and ingredients to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance programs, policies, and procedures to continuously improve product quality and safety.

What we will need from you:

  • Previous experience in quality control or quality assurance, preferably in the fresh produce industry.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations, quality standards, and industry best practices.
  • Identifying and resolving quality-related issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Certification in food safety (e.g., HACCP, SQF, GFSI) would be advantageous.

The above list of duties is non-exhaustive, and this role may be required to perform additional tasks as necessary to meet the needs of the function and the Company.
