As an Assistant Procurement Manager, you will drive supplier relationships, manage contracts, and deliver cost-saving initiatives while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours a week.
Location: Office-based, London

Your Key Responsibilities as an Assistant Procurement Manager will include:

Team Management & Operations:

  • Oversee day-to-day procurement activities with a focus on quick response times to minimize any impact on operations.
  • Source products across a wide range of spend categories, including food, beverage, consumables, service contracts, and capital.

Supplier Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing suppliers.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts, ensuring compliance with agreed terms and conditions.
  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure adherence to KPIs, service level agreements, and contractual obligations.
  • Conduct supplier audits and reviews to ensure ongoing compliance.

Cost Control & Reporting:

  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities to improve profitability.
  • Analyse procurement data and report on savings, trends, and performance against targets.
  • Ensure proper contract database management, including the creation and maintenance of a preferred supplier list (PSL).

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure processes are understood and followed.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable to streamline the procure-to-pay process and drive efficiencies.
  • Support sales and business development with timely sourcing and competitive cost pricing for new products.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to implement training programs and best practices across procurement.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive continuous improvements in all aspects of the procurement process with a key focus on cost, quality, and first-time availability.
  • Work with the Quality and Technical functions to ensure products meet customer, operational, and legal requirements.
  • Develop and implement product category plans, tracking performance against KPIs and targets.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Proven experience in procurement or supply chain management, ideally in a fast-paced operational environment (e.g., food production, distribution, FMCG).
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills, with experience handling supplier relationships and agreements.
  • Analytical mindset with experience in data analysis and cost control.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team, driving performance and continuous improvement.
  • Strong understanding of procurement systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders to achieve business goals.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to manage relationships at all levels.
