ROLE OVERVIEW

As we build our operational team, we are looking for an exceptional Security Officer to help protect the safety, security, and reputation of The Pembroke while delivering a discreet, polished, and welcoming five-star experience for every member and guest. This role combines professional security standards with luxury hospitality, requiring someone who is highly observant, calm under pressure, computer literate, well presented, and confident communicating with members, guests, colleagues, contractors, and visitors in a warm, respectful, and professional manner.

The successful candidate must hold a valid SIA licence and will preferably have experience within a five-star hotel, private members’ club, luxury residential or similarly high-end environment. You will operate in accordance with the club’s premises licence, Operational Management Plan, standard operating procedures, and member Terms & Conditions. The role requires excellent judgement, attention to detail, discretion, emotional intelligence, and the ability to identify, prevent, and respond to security concerns while maintaining the calm, elegant atmosphere expected in a five-star setting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Member Experience & Five-Star Service

  • Welcome members, guests, and visitors with warmth, confidence, and professionalism, ensuring every interaction reflects the standards of a five-star private members’ club.
  • Provide discreet assistance to members and guests as required, including directions, general enquiries, accessibility support, luggage, umbrellas, taxis, and safe departures.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully at all times, using positive language, active listening, and sound judgement when handling questions, complaints, or sensitive situations.
  • Maintain a calm, composed, and approachable presence while remaining alert to potential risks, suspicious behaviour, or service issues that may affect the member experience.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for The Pembroke, maintaining immaculate personal presentation, discretion, confidentiality, and a consistently positive attitude.

Security, Access Control & Operations

  • Control access to the club by verifying members, authorised guests, contractors, and visitors in accordance with club policy, licence conditions, and operational procedures.
  • Conduct internal and external patrols, monitor entrances and key areas, and maintain a visible yet discreet security presence throughout the premises.
  • Respond professionally to incidents, emergencies, medical situations, fire alarms, anti-social behaviour, intoxication, or conflict, escalating promptly to the Head of Security or duty manager where required.
  • Maintain radio communication with the security and front of house teams; complete all required logs and forms accurately, including sign-in/out sheets and the number plate log.
  • Adhere to all H&S and fire safety procedures; report any accidents, near misses, or safety concerns immediately to the Head Doorman or Security Supervisor and assist with fire alarm tests and emergency procedures and evacuations as directed.
  • Use security systems, access control processes, radios, email, incident reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications confidently and accurately.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience in a front-of-house, security, doorman, or guest-facing role within a five-star hotel, private members’ club, luxury residential, premium retail, or similarly high-end environment; a luxury hospitality background is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional five-star customer service skills, with the ability to remain warm, calm, discreet, and polished while dealing with members, guests, visitors, contractors, and colleagues.
  • A valid SIA Door Supervisor licence is essential; applicants must be able to provide evidence of current licensing before appointment.
  • Computer literate and confident using access control systems, CCTV monitoring where applicable, radios, email, Microsoft Office, incident reporting systems, and digital logs.
  • A working knowledge of premises licence obligations, the Operational Management Plan, and member Terms & Conditions; confident in applying licence conditions consistently and escalating where required.
  • An excellent communicator with strong written and verbal skills, able to produce accurate incident reports, clear handovers, and professional communications.
  • Punctual, reliable, and physically resilient – able to stand for extended periods in all weathers; willing to work flexibly across evenings, weekends, and holidays as the business requires.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Best-in-class salary
  • Family meal on shift
  • Industry-leading Learning & Development opportunities
