The Salt Room

Description

We are looking for a Kitchen Porter to join our team at The Salt Room.

Boasting uninterrupted views of Brighton seafront and the iconic West Pier ruins, The Salt Room is a modern British seafood restaurant that celebrates cooking over fire.

We take pride in sourcing local ingredients — concentrating on sustainability — to produce a menu of mouth-watering dishes. Using the same techniques as our sister restaurants; The Coal Shed & Burnt Orange, we cook the freshest shellfish and meat over charcoal, ensuring a dining experience to remember.

The same seasonality and innovation that is applied to the menu finds its way into the cocktails, with a selection of drinks changing through the year and with a hint of earthy herbs and sea spices sprinkled throughout.

The Role

As a Kitchen Porter, you’ll be a vital member of the kitchen team, supporting our chefs to deliver high-quality dishes made from fresh, carefully sourced ingredients.

You’ll play an important role in keeping the kitchen running smoothly, ensuring the team has the clean equipment, utensils and workspace they need to deliver an excellent service.

This is a busy and hands-on role, ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys being part of a team and is happy to get stuck in wherever needed.

Our Kitchen Porter

  • Is a self-motivated and reliable team player who thrives under pressure
  • Is keen to work and develop within a busy professional kitchen environment
  • Ensures all pots, pans, crockery, glassware, utensils and kitchen equipment are cleaned to a high standard
  • Keeps the kitchen, wash-up area, stores and other back-of-house areas clean, organised and well maintained
  • Completes regular deep cleaning of kitchen equipment, floors, walls and other areas as required
  • Supports the chefs with basic food preparation and kitchen duties when required
  • Ensures clean equipment and utensils are available throughout service
  • Helps with deliveries, storage and moving stock around the kitchen
  • Manages waste and recycling correctly, keeping bins and waste areas clean and tidy
  • Follows all Health & Safety, Food Safety, COSHH and cleaning procedures
  • Reports any damaged equipment, maintenance issues or concerns to the chef or manager
  • Supports the kitchen team with opening and closing duties
  • Maintains a professional and positive manner, even during busy services
  • Takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and organisation
  • Is flexible and willing to go the extra mile to support the team
  • Is eligible to work full-time in the UK

In return we offer a truly competitive pay package, a great professional environment, fantastic training, and the chance to grow and develop your career, plus access to an array of benefits.

As a Kitchen Porter you will enjoy these benefits:

·       A truly competitive pay package
