Restaurant General Manager
The Twenty Two London Hotel

Description

A new chapter at The Twenty Two

The Twenty Two is a private members club and hotel known for discreet, personalised and elevated hospitality. Cafe 22 is our newest opening, and we are looking for a General Manager to shape its first chapter: someone who will set the standard from day one, build a team that takes pride in every detail, and make Cafe 22 a place guests and members want to return to.

The role

As General Manager, you will lead the overall direction and daily operation of Cafe 22. You will report to our Food and Beverage Manager, with functional accountability to the Director of Food and Beverage, and you will work closely with our Director of Guest Experience, who leads the guest journey at Cafe 22. Your Restaurant Managers will report directly to you.

What you will do

You will be a visible presence on the floor, engaging with guests and colleagues and making sure every visit feels effortless and personal. You will lead, coach and develop your managers and their teams, from recruitment and onboarding through to regular performance conversations, and you will build a culture of teamwork, professionalism and continuous improvement.

You will own the Cafe 22 P&L, managing costs, labour and margins while finding new ways to grow revenue and average spend without compromising on service. Alongside our Culinary, Marketing and Finance teams, you will help shape menus, promotions and guest experiences, and you will contribute to the longer term strategy for the concept as it establishes itself.

You will also make sure Cafe 22 meets every health, safety, licensing and food hygiene requirement, and that our commitment to sustainability and responsible sourcing is reflected in how we operate.

About you

You have proven experience as a General Manager, Senior Restaurant Manager or equivalent in a high-end, service-led environment, and you have led and developed managers. You understand luxury service and what discerning guests expect, and you have the financial acumen to manage budgets, control costs and drive profitability. Experience of opening or launching a venue would be a real advantage at this stage.

You are calm, organised and detail-oriented under pressure, hands-on in your leadership, and genuinely motivated by looking after people. You communicate well, resolve problems with confidence, and bring fresh ideas to how we can keep improving.

What we offer

Available from day one:

  • Employee Assistance Programme with Hospitality Action
  • Employee Referral Scheme: £500 (paid on your referral completing their probationary period)
  • Mentoring schemes. Management Development Training – on the job with support from external training providers
  • Your birthday is off

Available on successful completion of your probationary period:

  • Generous Company Discretionary Sick Pay Scheme.
  • Generous staff discount in the Restaurant: 30% off a table up to 4pax and 20% off a table up to 6pax
  • A Guest Experience in the Hotel (subject to availability)
  • Holiday entitlement increases: 2 days at 2 years’ length of service, and a further 3 days at 5 years’ length of service, prorated to your contract hours
  • Long service award schemes: 5 years (Silver Status. Meal in the Restaurant, TTT embroidered Bathrobe), 10 years (Gold Status, a stay in our sister property with flights with partner), 15 years (Platinum Status – watch this space)

The opportunity to lead a newly launched venue within one of London’s most distinctive private members clubs.

The Twenty Two is committed to equal opportunities and welcomes applications from all backgrounds.
