Junior Sous Chef

Description
Little Gems Country Dining started in October 2006 and so far we’re a small, intimate company with five pubs. We pride ourselves on doing the simple things really well and keeping our focus on the staff and customers.

In our kitchens, our Head Chefs concentrate on providing home cooked menus with specials menus that change every day. Provenance, sustainability and sourcing British food is important to us, and we keep our dishes simple and not over presented.

Beautifully refurbished this month, The Swan Inn is a beautiful 13th century thatched country pub & restaurant, which has undoubtedly changed over the years, yet retains a wealth of original features & oozes a rustic, rural charm. Our orchard beer garden is the jewel in our crown during the summer months.

Everything is freshly made in our open kitchen and changes in line with the seasons, using the best local produce we can get our hands on, served in the comforting surroundings of our stunning restaurant.

The role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic sous chef that has a hunger to produce high quality food and the drive to succeed in the hospitality industry.

This role is for someone who can lead the kitchen team in the Head Chef’s absence. We are looking for an individual who can thrive in a busy kitchen, keeping focus on the job in hand, whilst always retaining the back house disciplines and standards. You will have an opportunity to give your input regarding our seasonally changing menu, along with the creativity of the daily specials. Everyone in our kitchens has a voice and we always like to hear yours.

If you have previous experience, strong team approach, understanding of ordering and back of house compliance, committed to your career development and like to be challenged – then you might be the right person for us!

Please note: The character of the business means that you will be required to work shifts.

Reward & Benefits:

• Competitive salary plus tips, food discounts, & recruitment incentive scheme, & little gems inspiration days
• 28 days holiday, free food on shift, fun and professional work environment & support to achieve goals
• Training and development, compliance training, dedicated e-learning courses, & flexibility to move within the group

Your Development:

We consistently strive to give individuals the opportunity to use their existing skills and building new ones. We will invest time training, coaching and developing you in-house. We like to see our people develop and ultimately, as a company, we like to promote from within. This is a role that will set you in good stead for a future role as a Head Chef.
