Food Writer

José Andrés Media is looking for an experienced food writer to craft, test and deliver recipes and food stories. We are looking for a creative, adaptable, and highly-motivated individual to help us tell compelling stories inspired by food. The ideal candidate will be ideas-driven and enjoy a fast-paced workflow. They will be passionate about food and the stories behind food, expert in building and engaging readers both online and through cookbooks. They will be collaborative team players, as well as self-driven creators, working from ideation to writing, editing and publishing, in partnership with a creative team of chefs, designers, photographers and videographers. They will embrace the values and complexity of working at a rapidly growing company with high expectations of innovation, quality and authenticity. This position reports to the Managing Director and works closely with the Director of Social Media & Content, as well as José’s Chief of Staff.

Food Writer Responsibilities:

• Ideate, write, test and edit original recipes and food stories for cookbook readers and online audiences
• Collaborate closely with team members on dishes, recipes, editing, visuals and design
• Stay up to date with food and web trends, adapting them to our content and values
• Enjoy working with an innovative, rapidly-growing team from diverse creative backgrounds

Food Writer Requirements:

• 1-3 Years of food writing and/or editing experience
• Excellent writing skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
• Must be upbeat, creative, personable, and a self-starter
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Must be organized across multiple projects and workstreams
• Strong sense of urgency and pride in work
