Director, People (NYC Based)


Description

TFG is seeking a Human Resources Director to be heavily involved in employee relations issues, labor law, HR projects, employee career counseling and performance review process.


Essential Job Functions:

·         Staff recruitment, retention and terminations

·         Maintenance of personnel files and Personnel Action Forms

·         Benefits administration and staff compensation

·         Develop, manage and implement personnel policies; manages the Human Resources Information System (HRIS)

·         Work with staff and management to facilitate staff development and training opportunities

·         Communicate and ensure compliance and consistency with office practices and policies and compliance with all employment related laws

·         Effectively interface with all levels of the organization to coordinate and oversee all of the people-related and office management activities

·         Make certain that all administrative systems and processes are highly reliable, finely tuned and well delivered with an aim toward proactivity rather than reaction

·         Serve as administrative team leader, coach and advocate for staff

·         Keep informed and up to date regarding industry standards and best practices related to the hospitality industry

·         Ensures necessary legal postings are in view of all employees

·         Stays current on recent federal, state and case law changes and monitors labor law updates and newsletters for changes that affect Human Resources. Consults legal counsel to ensure that policies comply with federal and state law.

·         Coordinate and participates in the annual Performance Review process.

·         Actively participate in career progression discussions of internal leadership staff. Provide feedback on leaders’ performance. Conduct career progression discussions with leaders.

·         Keeps the Senior Director, People informed regarding employee relations issues in the Restaurants and follows up with urgency.

·         Maintain confidentiality and security of employee information and records.

·         Attend all other designated meetings, i.e. quarterly GM/HCs meetings.  Communicate Human Resources’ updates to all in attendance and/or through written communication avenues.

·         Assist in providing and maintaining information for the TFG communication systems including bulletin boards and newsletters in regards to employment, recruitment, transfers and promotions.

·         Coordinate the New Hire Orientation of new employees along with other facilitators.

·         Follow up on assignments and special projects given by the Senior Director, People.

·         Provides regular performance feedback, teaches and coaches HR skills and encourages team growth.

·         Ability to give clear, concise directions.

·         Ability to follow up with potential candidates, applicants and employees.

·         Readily adjusts to circumstances and manages change effectively.

·         Maintains professionalism and confidentiality in difficult situations.

·         Ability to implement and maintain quality and service standards to produce a consistent employee experience.

·         Improve and promote quality and demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness.

·         Ability to work independently, multi-task and organize work to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.

·         Problem-solving ability.  Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gather and analyze information skillfully.

·         Gives authority to work independently, sets expectations and monitors delegated activities.

 

Job qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field.

·         5 years HR/Recruitment/Training experience

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills

·         Proficiency working with Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and internet required.

·         Strong organization, customer service and multitasking skills

·         Prior hospitality experience and bilingual skills a plus
