 Head Chef

The Tipsy Fox, Southwater, Horsham
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

About Us

Following the hugely successful relaunch of The Tipsy Fox, we are building something special in the heart of Southwater.

Under new ownership and management, The Tipsy Fox has quickly established itself as one of the area's most exciting hospitality venues, combining quality food, premium drinks, live entertainment, sport, and exceptional service within a vibrant community pub setting.

As our food offer continues to grow, we are now looking for an ambitious and talented Head Chef to join our leadership team and help take our kitchen to the next level.

This is a genuine opportunity to influence menus, shape standards, develop a team and become a key part of an exciting journey as we continue to invest in the business.

The Role

As Head Chef, you will work closely with the owners and management team to lead all aspects of the kitchen operation.

We are looking for someone who understands modern casual dining, takes pride in presentation and consistency, and can deliver great food whilst maintaining strong controls and profitability.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be expected to lead from the front, inspire your team and continuously improve standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all day-to-day kitchen operations
  • Recruit, train and develop a small high-performing kitchen team
  • Drive food quality, consistency and presentation standards
  • Manage food margins, stock control and ordering
  • Minimise wastage and maximise profitability
  • Create and develop seasonal menus and specials
  • Ensure full compliance with food safety and health & safety legislation
  • Manage kitchen rotas in line with business demand
  • Work collaboratively with front of house and management teams
  • Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen environment
  • Deliver exceptional guest experiences through outstanding food

About You

You will ideally have:

  • Previous experience as a Head Chef or strong Sous Chef ready for promotion
  • Experience within a busy pub, restaurant or casual dining environment
  • Strong leadership and team development skills
  • Excellent organisational and communication abilities
  • A passion for fresh food and quality ingredients
  • Commercial awareness with experience managing GP and labour costs
  • Food Safety Level 3 qualification (desirable)
  • A positive, proactive attitude and a desire to continuously improve

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who wants to be part of building something exciting rather than simply maintaining the status quo.

What We Offer
  • Competitive salary of £35,000 – £45,000 depending on experience
  • Significant input into menu development and food direction
  • Supportive and engaged ownership team
  • Opportunities for progression as the business grows
  • Staff discounts
  • Flexible working patterns where possible
  • A chance to make a real impact within an ambitious independent hospitality business

If you're passionate about food, love developing teams and want to help shape one of Southwater's most exciting hospitality venues, we'd love to hear from you.
