As a Teppan Chef at Samurai, you will be the heart of the guest experience, entertaining guests with your culinary skills and delivering freshly prepared teppanyaki meals with energy and flair. Your mission is to create a fun, interactive, and delicious experience at every table, every time.
Key ResponsibilitiesGreet guests warmly within 15 minutes of teppan order and set the tone for a memorable dining experience
Perform live cooking shows at the table, preparing teppanyaki meals while interacting with guests professionally and courteously
Cook and serve a variety of meats, seafood, vegetables, and other dishes using broilers, grills, fryers, and traditional teppan equipment
Respond to guest preferences and ensure food is prepared to order
Prepare ingredients in advance using battering, breading, seasoning, marinating, and portioning methods
Follow all Samurai portioning, presentation, and recipe standards for food quality and consistency
Perform opening/closing tasks including cleaning equipment, workstations, chef carts, and refrigeration units
Maintain all kitchen and cooking areas in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition
Store and handle food items using FIFO and food safety best practices
Report equipment issues or guest concerns promptly to Management
Support in celebrating guest birthdays, anniversaries, and special events with enthusiasm
Photograph or be photographed with guests upon request as part of the Samurai experience
Follow responsible alcohol service policies when serving alcoholic beverages
Perform additional duties as requested by Management
Must successfully complete the Samurai Teppan Chef Training Program
Previous experience as a chef or cook in a restaurant setting preferred
Ability to entertain while cooking and communicate clearly with guests
Strong knife skills, culinary knowledge, and attention to presentation
Able to stand for extended periods and perform physical kitchen tasks
A team-first attitude and passion for hospitality and guest experience
