Job Classification:       Food Server

Job summary:

The primary responsibility of the food server is to provide prompt, courteous service to guests and ensure the guests receive a pleasurable dining experience that will make them want to come back again.

Supervision exercised:

None

Supervision received:

Supervisor: manager on duty

Supervision: has assigned duties, station and procedures which are monitored throughout the shift by management.

Responsibilities:

1.     Acknowledge customer immediately with a smile.

2.     Inform guests of any specials and have a full understanding of the menu to answer any questions.

3.     Take beverage order and serve in timely manner.

4.     Ensure food order is correct before ringing into pos and before serving the guests.

5.     Monitor tables closely and be attentive to guests’ needs.

6.     Clear empty plates and glassware from tables and place quickly in dish pit.

7.     Prepare sections and side stations, i.e., Make sure tables are cleaned, aligned, and properly set throughout shift and station is clean and organized throughout shift.

8.     Prepare napkins that are uniform and up to company specifications.

9.     Assigned side work that is listed on the Food Server “side work checklist”. This list includes but is not limited to things such as wiping and organizing fridges and station areas; restocking any dry goods or teas, coffee, etc.; folding napkins; refilling jelly and sugar caddies.

10.  Make sure all areas of the dining room are clean and free of debris.

11.  Provides additional items to customers as to maximize check average, tip %, and company profits.

12.  Is at all times appropriately groomed and wears the uniform provided.

13.  Follows all 4 steps of the “spotlight behavior” pamphlet.

14.  Keep hutches/pos stations clean, tidy, organized, and sanitized.

Job specifications:

1.     Work requires 6 months previous food server experience.

2.     Work requires effective communication in English, both verbal and written form in a professional manner.

3.     Must present a neat and professional appearance.

4.     Work requires interactions with guests, public and co-workers.

5.     Work requires teamwork with other staff members.

 

 

Working conditions:

Fast paced, high volume environment involving constant public interaction. Also, requires carrying serving trays weighing up to 15lbs, and may require lifting bus tubs weighing up to 40 lbs. Shifts may vary based on business needs. Must be able to tolerate secondary tobacco smoke.
