Position Summary

The Assistant General Manager serves as a key operational leader, supporting the daily management and execution of VERANDA’s front-of-house operations and overall guest experience. This role ensures exceptional hospitality, operational excellence, team development, and seamless coordination between service and culinary operations.

Primary Responsibilities: Operational Leadership & Service Execution

  • Support daily operations to ensure seamless execution across all service periods.
  • Maintain strong floor presence and actively oversee service flow, guest interactions, and team performance.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of elevated hospitality and service standards.
  • Anticipate operational challenges and resolve issues proactively.
  • Support special events, activations, VIP experiences, and high-profile service needs.

Guest Experience & Hospitality Excellence

  • Foster a culture centered on exceptional hospitality and meaningful guest experiences.
  • Ensure every guest interaction reflects VERANDA’s service standards and brand values.
  • Address guest concerns professionally, efficiently, and with sound judgment.
  • Monitor service quality and identify opportunities to enhance guest satisfaction.
  • Promote a welcoming, polished, and hospitality-driven environment.

Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Assist in recruiting, onboarding, training, and developing front-of-house team members.
  • Provide coaching, performance feedback, and leadership support.
  • Foster accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and service excellence.
  • Lead by example with a strong work ethic and hands-on leadership style.
  • Help build a positive culture focused on engagement and continuous improvement.

Financial & Business Management

  • Support labor management, scheduling, and staffing optimization.
  • Assist in monitoring payroll efficiency and operational productivity.
  • Support budget adherence and cost-control initiatives.
  • Help drive operational efficiencies without compromising guest experience.
  • Monitor key operational metrics and support performance improvement efforts.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with culinary leadership to ensure alignment between kitchen and service operations.
  • Maintain strong communication across all departments to ensure service readiness.
  • Support execution of daily briefings, operational meetings, and service planning.
  • Help ensure consistent communication of operational priorities and business goals.

Safety, Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety protocols, and operational procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and audit-ready facility.
  • Support compliance with health, sanitation, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Ensure all team members operate in accordance with brand and company standards.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Minimum 3–5 years of progressive leadership experience in hospitality, restaurant, hotel, or food service operations
  • Strong experience in high-volume service environments
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong operational and organizational abilities
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong guest service mindset and problem-solving abilities

Preferred

  • Experience in corporate dining, luxury hospitality, resort, or upscale restaurant environments
  • Experience leading large front-of-house teams
  • Strong knowledge of service standards and hospitality training
  • Experience with labor management and operational reporting
