Position Summary

The Dishwasher plays a critical support role in maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and operational readiness of VERANDA’s culinary facilities. This position ensures all kitchen equipment, cookware, utensils, china, and service ware are cleaned, sanitized, and available to support uninterrupted culinary operations.

The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Success in this role requires a strong work ethic, urgency, teamwork, and a commitment to cleanliness and food safety.

Primary Responsibilities: Cleaning & Sanitation

  • Wash, rinse, sanitize, and properly store dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
  • Operate dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure all items meet sanitation and cleanliness standards before being returned to service.
  • Maintain clean dish stations and organized storage areas throughout each shift.

Stewarding & Kitchen Support

  • Assist culinary staff by ensuring a continuous flow of clean kitchen tools and equipment.
  • Remove trash, cardboard, and waste materials from the kitchen and service areas.
  • Support proper waste disposal and recycling procedures.
  • Replenish cleaning supplies and notify leadership of shortages.

Facility Cleanliness & Organization

  • Clean floors, drains, mats, walls, and designated kitchen surfaces.
  • Support deep cleaning projects and scheduled sanitation procedures.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the back-of-house and stewarding areas at all times.
  • Ensure work areas remain organized, safe, and inspection-ready.

Food Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all sanitation, food safety, HACCP, and health department standards.
  • Properly handle cleaning chemicals and sanitation products.
  • Adhere to company safety procedures and equipment protocols.
  • Immediately report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns.

Teamwork & Culture

  • Collaborate effectively with culinary and stewarding team members.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and urgency.
  • Maintain a positive, respectful, team-oriented attitude.
  • Support additional kitchen functions as business needs require.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong work ethic and reliability
  • Ability to follow sanitation and safety procedures
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

Preferred

  • Previous dishwasher, stewarding, or kitchen support experience preferred
  • Experience in high-volume hospitality, hotel, or corporate dining environments
