General Manager @ Wolfgang Puck Hotel Bel-Air


Description

Our Restaurant and Bar General Managers are the experts of our hotel! Entrusted with the responsibility to oversee and manage the Wolfgang Puck Restaurant and Bar, and maintaining the high standards of our guests. They achieve its goals and contribute to the guest experience and overall profitability of the hotel whilst maintaining Dorchester Collection Brand standards. They coordinate all Restaurant and Bar Operations and Programs and they ensure adherence to DC Core Standards and required Health and Food Safety standards. Our Restaurant and Bar General Managers are also responsible for the planning, organization, direction of the operations and supervision of the Restaurant and Bar teams. They enable the F&B GRC structure, creativity, bespoke recognition and utilization of NEXUS. They continually evaluate organizational structure to ensure team is deployed based on strengths. Though skillfully trained, they never lose sight of their ultimate reasonability, to create lifelong memories for our guests.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

A day in the life of our Restaurant and Bar General Managers, it demands high levels of energy in order to keep up. They need consistency even though the days are never alike; and creativity to tackle daily adventures. Listing all of the tasks that our Restaurant and Bar General Managers accomplish would be lengthy but the list below is essential to know.  

·         Our Restaurant and Bar General Managers are responsible for overseeing and assisting in the management of all daily operations during their day. This will include cultivating relationships with all our guests, including recognizing all in-house and VIP guests. In addition, they will need to build relationships with all employees as they will be directly managing our Wolfgang Puck Restaurant and Bar team. Our Restaurant and Bar General Managers ensure that standards are maintained at a superior level on a daily basis.  Our Restaurant and Bar General Managers are responsible for the planning, organization, direction of the operations and supervision of staff. They interview, hire and train employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and addressing complaints and resolving problems during their day. This will include menu planning and costs, preparation and presentation of food and drinks, and adherence to quality and safety standards. They oversee and assist in coordinating special events. They are capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments during their day all to ensure our guests receives nothing but the best experience. The will manage all month end financial requirements such as trial balance, accruals, check book maintenance and P&L variance critiques. They attend all labor and revenue meetings

 

·         Sometimes our guests have special requests involving dietary restrictions, seating preferences and even special occasions. Restaurant and Bar General Managers are responsible for leading and managing their team to ensure these requests are appropriately fulfilled.  In addition, we ensure our Restaurant and Bar General Managers  can respond efficiently and accurately to restaurant guest complaints. We encourage guest feedback and inquires.

·         Our Restaurant and Bar General Managers will follow through on all guest comments, complaints and other forms of communication. They will evaluate Medallia, guest interview points as well as any other customer communication channels to create action plans and other required follow ups. They will develop and implement viable marketing strategies and programs for increased sales of F & B, in partnership with Sales and Marketing                                                                                                       

·         Our hotels are truly luxury hotels. This requires preventing and correcting the imperfections and blemishes that tend to come up. Our Restaurant and Bar General Managers are relied upon to report these and work with several other positions to correct. They must exercise independent judgment with respect to matters involving both Guest and Team member matters.

·         Communication is what keeps our departments running perfectly. Our Restaurant and Bar General Managers must communicate with other departments and extended hotel team in order to ensure the alignment remains. They work hands-on with the culinary and stewarding teams while communicating requests and concerns to drive problem solving and resolution.

The items shared are essential. However, to ensure consistency, our Restaurant and Bar General Managers are provided with specifics on how we care for their department and our hotel.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to  talk, and hear.  The employee frequently is required to walk and stand for up to 8 hours.  Ability to bend, stoop, crouch, use hand, finger and wrist dexterity. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, employees are required to work varying schedules, including weekends and holidays, to accommodate the business and demands of the hotel.
