Server Assistant

Role Summary
A WS New York Server Assistant is responsible for providing exceptional food and beverage service to members and guests of WS New York, as per WS New York Standards. The Server Assistant is expected to work with the Server and Kitchen in a hospitable, efficient manner and play an integral role in ensuring our guests have an outstanding dining experience. At all times, Server Assistants are expected to be attentive and anticipatory to our Guests' and Teams’ needs. Our goal is to make everyone feel welcome, comfortable, important and relaxed, while exceeding expectations for all.

Key Responsibilities
● Maintain a high level of hospitality and professionalism with each team member and guest
● Will be required to complete and pass company quizzes on product/job knowledge.
● Protect the privacy of our members, teammates, guests and at all times
● Develop and retain knowledge of the menu, dietary restrictions, cocktails and wines by the glass
● Ability to organize and carry a tray properly for food and beverage service
● Execute opening and closing procedures associated with assigned station
● Understand and perform the proper standards for serving and clearing all courses
● Fill and refill guests’ glassware with choice of water in a timely manner
● Act as a channel of communication (the eyes and ears) between the kitchen and the dining room
● Serve beverages, mark silverware between courses, and assist in serving and clearing food in cooperation with the Server
● Clear and reset necessary tables in between guest transition
● Clean and crumb tables between courses and when needed
● Prepare and serve coffee and tea orders
● Work seamlessly and communicate with Servers and Food Runners to assure members and guests have a valuable overall experience

● Be ready and willing to help other servers, assistant servers, runners, sommeliers, hosts, or manager as needed to ensure our high service standards and efficient operations
● Attend Food, Wine and Team training opportunities


Requirements :


● 1+ year working in a fine dining and/or high-volume environment
● Positive attitude, a sense of responsibility and ownership of the position
● Appetite for creating memorable moments of hospitality for our guests
● Desire to learn and grow within the position and restaurant
● Basic knowledge and passion for wine, beer, coffee and craft cocktails
● Basic understanding of classic food and wine service and service ware
● Detail-oriented with strong communication skills
● Team-oriented with a strong sense of punctuality and reliability
● Demonstrate a sense of urgency, strong work ethic, ability to mentally prioritize and stay organized during high volume
● Must be impeccably groomed, maintain good hygiene, upright posture and always maintain required uniform and tools on hand
● Must display the image and philosophy set forth by the owner and the restaurant management team
● Fluent in both written and spoken English
● Be able to safely lift and easily maneuver plates, cases of water, chairs, linen and dining room tables. Up to 50 pounds
● Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)
● Must be comfortable with repetitive motions (such as walking, bending & standing)
