Description

The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Payroll Manager and People & Culture team by ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing across multiple Zuma North America locations. This role includes managing payroll data, maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and providing exceptional service to employees regarding payroll-related inquiries. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, hospitality-driven environment.

Main Duties

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare and process payroll on a weekly schedule, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, tax information, direct deposit, promotions, and changes in pay or status
  • Verify timekeeping data and resolve discrepancies in collaboration with managers and employees
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable wage, hour, and tax laws across multiple states
  • Assist with payroll reporting, audits, and reconciliations, providing accurate data to Finance and People & Culture leadership
  • Coordinate with benefits partner to ensure correct payroll deductions for health insurance
  • Respond promptly and professionally to employee payroll inquiries, providing clear communication and resolution
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee payroll and personal data
  • Support the People & Culture team with PTO tracking, wage garnishments, transit benefits, and other payroll-related tasks
  • Stay current on payroll and labor law regulations, minimum wage changes, system updates, and industry best practices
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support People & Culture and Finance operations


What We Look For

Our ideal candidate embodies our values and the following:

  • 1+ year of payroll experience, preferably in a multi-state, high-volume hospitality or restaurant environment
  • Familiar with payroll systems such as ADP or similar platforms and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, wage & hour laws, and tax compliance
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Flexibility to work extended hours as needed during payroll cycles or special projects
