Houston & Hawkes is looking for a warm, polished and enthusiastic Front of House General Assistant to join our team at a modern, prestigious corporate workplace in the heart of London. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who takes genuine pride in hospitality and enjoys creating a welcoming experience for every guest.

You will be part of a friendly, professional front-of-house team, ensuring that the food service areas are beautifully presented, customers feel looked after and every detail is taken care of. From preparing the restaurant for service to supporting the coffee bar and delivering thoughtful hospitality, your contribution will help make each day run smoothly.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Welcome customers warmly and provide attentive, friendly and professional service throughout the day.
• Set up and maintain attractive front-of-house food displays, counters and service areas, keeping everything fresh, clean and well stocked.
• Replenish food and beverage stations throughout service, ensuring displays remain inviting and organised.
• Check that food labels, menus and allergen information are correctly displayed, escalating any queries to the appropriate team member.
• Prepare front-of-house areas for service, including polishing cutlery, arranging crockery and maintaining immaculate presentation standards.
• Clear and reset tables, tidy guest areas and ensure the restaurant remains clean and welcoming.
• Assist the barista and coffee bar team during busy periods, helping with drinks service and keeping the area stocked and presentable.
• Support meeting-room hospitality, refreshments and events, including setting up, serving and clearing down.
• Work closely with colleagues to anticipate customer needs and ensure a seamless service.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, allergen and health and safety procedures at all times.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• A naturally friendly, confident and customer-focused personality with excellent communication skills.
• Experience in front-of-house catering, hospitality, café service or a similarly service-led environment is desirable.
• A keen eye for detail and pride in maintaining immaculate food displays and guest spaces.
• A positive, flexible approach and the ability to stay calm, organised and helpful during busy periods.
• A reliable team player who enjoys supporting colleagues and creating a great customer experience.
• An interest in coffee and hospitality service; additional training can be provided.
