The Job
The success of our guest experience is dependent on our amazing people; their knowledge of how to do their roles; their understanding of our many products and their dedication to personal success and development. As such, the standard of Training they receive and development opportunities they are offered not just when they join, but ongoing in their role and for their career is critical. The People function develops and co-ordinates development and training programmes across the organisation and leads our development academy for our venues.
Key to the success of our learning and development programmes is consistency of delivery therefore the People team are responsible for the creation and embedding of frameworks and programmes that are simple, consistent, capable of scale and effective across a multi-site, environment.
The Senior Learning and Development Manager ( 12 month Maternity cover) will help plan, prioritise and develop new engaging and imaginative training programs and initiatives, ensuring that these programs and initiatives are consistent with the business overall strategies, objectives, and needs. You'll manage a team and work closely with senior leaders to help our people grow, with a focus on improving hospitality service, leadership skills, and employee engagement throughout the business.
Key responsibilities will include:
People Development
· Lead, motivate, inspire and develop the L&D team
· Driving the learning programme and defining the capability strategy to deliver across the venues
· Managing our L&D strategy & initiatives across all of our venues
· Understanding and translating the business objectives, designing programmes and support to enhance the business’ capability
· Building on and executing specialist training programmes for specific areas of the business
· Leading relationships with our external L&D providers
· Overseeing the utilisation of the LMS to support, drive and deliver learning
· Responsibility for learning & development across international venues
· Driving & developing a suite of innovative training and development tools for our head office and Venue Management teams
· Managing the development of our existing academies & programmes
· Identification and creation of potential future academies & apprenticeship programmes
· Manage the development framework which can be tailored for individual development needs be utilised across all areas of the business
· Create and deliver content for the development workshops
· Sign off all content created by L&D team
Product Training
· Lead the L&D team to work alongside the People and Operations teams ensure consistent delivery of training on all products in venue in line with brand strategy and training best practice
· Implement agreed evaluation of product training and deliver providing reports to management and product owners
· Lead our new venue opening training
Learning & Development Frameworks & Systems
· Ensure that each role has a clear development pathway with robust selection, evaluation and graduation at all levels
· Working with the People team and Operations team to managing standard frameworks, systems and processes that guarantee consistency and ease of delivery, are relevant to the audience, geared for success and impact, with clear KPIs and reporting
· Manage processes and systems to support and manage the full product learning suite
· Oversee the L&D team our on-line training ensuring that training is fit for its audience and supports our in-venue trainers
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
· Experience of working as a Senior Learning & Development Manager within the hospitality industry
· Essential previous experience of managing a team
· Essential minimum experience of 3 years working operationally in a senior role
· Essential experience in both FOH & BOH operations
· Essential full understanding of kitchen operations
· Experience of having facilitated, developed and managed Training and Development programmes
· Previous experience of Learning Management Systems, a good understanding of Mapal One an advantage
· Experience of setting up training academies and apprenticeship programmes preferred
· Experience of having worked in an organisation of high growth and fast pace
· A creative thinker staying at the forefront of new practices. You will be able to adapt and adopt to the needs of the industry and our internal needs with the experience and confidence to recommend new ways of doing things
· Great knowledge of a variety of training methods and development software
· Strong Project Management skills and knowledge
· A love of communication and demonstrable experience of delivering innovative and effective training and development programmes and workshops
