About the Opportunity

As an Expo / Food Runner at Tei-An, you play a key role in ensuring seamless coordination between the kitchen and dining room. Your primary responsibility is to organize, inspect, and facilitate the timely delivery of dishes while maintaining accuracy, presentation, and efficiency throughout service.

This role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and a clear understanding of dining room flow and sequence of service. Experience in Japanese restaurants is a plus, but not required. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about hospitality and eager to continuously learn and grow within an elevated dining environment.


Core Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the expo line, kitchen pass, and surrounding service areas

  • Ensure all dishes are complete, accurate, and presented to standard before leaving the kitchen

  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with chefs and front-of-house team members to maintain smooth and timely service

  • Call tickets clearly and manage pacing throughout service

  • Deliver food promptly and accurately while maintaining strong awareness of table numbers and seat positions

  • Demonstrate strong menu knowledge and communicate dishes clearly to guests when needed

  • Assist with guest requests and support guest recovery efforts with professionalism and composure

  • Support servers, bartenders, hosts, and managers as needed to maintain seamless operations

  • Maintain health, safety, and cleanliness standards throughout service

  • Complete opening, mid-shift, and closing responsibilities as directed by leadership


Requirements

  • At least 18 years old

  • Minimum 3 months of hospitality experience preferred

  • Experience in dining service preferred

  • Strong understanding of the sequence of service

  • Passion for food, beverage, and hospitality

  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to remain composed and professional in a fast-paced environment

  • Team-oriented mindset with strong punctuality and reliability

  • Willingness to continuously learn and improve

  • Bilingual in English and Japanese is a plus

  • TABC and Food Handler Certification as required by state and local regulations


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to work standing and walking for extended periods of time
