Description
We are seeking an experienced, organized Event Chef to design menus, lead kitchen operations, and deliver exceptional food experiences for weddings, corporate events, private parties, and other catered functions. The Event Chef will work closely with clients, event managers and service staff to ensure food quality, presentation, and service run smoothly from planning through clean-up.

Key Responsibilities:

• Menu development: create seasonal, costed menus aligned with client needs, dietary restrictions and event themes.
• Client liaison: consult with clients and event planners to finalize menu, service style, timelines and special requests.
• Food preparation & production: oversee all food prep, plating, finishing and quality control on event day(s).
• Kitchen leadership: recruit, train and supervise culinary staff, assign stations, and manage on-site kitchen flow.
• Inventory & ordering: manage food inventory, place orders, control food cost and minimize waste.
• Logistics & equipment: plan for and coordinate equipment, transport, on-site set-up and breakdown.
• Food safety & compliance: enforce hygiene, allergen protocols and local health regulations; maintain certifications.
• Budget & reporting: prepare quotes, control labor and food costs, and report on event profitability.
• Problem solving: adapt menus and workflows in real time to address last-minute changes or issues.
• Post-event duties: oversee clean-up, equipment return, and post-event feedback collection.

Required Qualifications:

• Culinary degree or equivalent professional culinary training preferred.
• 3+ years’ experience in catering, events or banquet kitchens (more for senior roles).
• Proven experience leading culinary teams at events (weddings, corporate or large-scale functions).
• Food safety certification (e.g., ServSafe, local equivalent).
• Strong menu development and cost-control skills.
• Valid driver’s license if travel/transporting equipment required.

Preferred Skills:

• Excellent time management and ability to work under pressure.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.
• Knowledge of dietary restrictions and allergen management (gluten-free, vegan, kosher, halal).
• Familiarity with on-site mobile/kitchen equipment and staging.
• Basic budgeting and inventory software familiarity (e.g., Kitchen CUT, MarketMan, Excel).

Working Conditions:

• Frequent evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Physical demands: long periods on feet, lifting up to [X] lbs.
• Travel between venues and occasional overnight stays for multi-day events.
