Description

Lobster Place is seeking a Seafood Hall Server for our Chelsea Market operation comprising Lobster Place Seafood Hall & Retail Market. The Seafood Hall Server is the backbone of our operation, responsible for the sale and service of our guests all while delivering warmth and exceptional hospitality.

Located in the heart of Chelsea Market, Lobster Place is a unique operation comprised of the Michelin-Acclaimed Cull and Pistol Oyster Bar; a one-of-a kind seafood hall; and one of the most heralded seafood markets in NYC. An original tenant of Chelsea Market, Lobster Place has built a world-wide reputation for delivering exquisite-quality seafood and dining experiences that has made it the most popular destination in the Market.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Be knowledgeable about menu items and provide thoughtful recommendations to guests.  
  • Deliver food and beverages promptly from the kitchen to guests.  
  • Ensure all guests consistently receive courteous, meaningful, and efficient service.  
  • Maintain a welcoming, clean, and orderly restaurant environment.  
  • Handle transactional duties accurately and efficiently.  
  • Train and mentor new team members.  
  • Answer guest inquiries about menu offerings, seating options, and restaurant policies.  
  • Distribute printed menus to guests.  
  • Enforce the company’s Department of Health (DOH) policies.  
  • Maintain well-organized Front of House (FOH) stations.  
  • Complete daily opening and closing side-work tasks.  
  • Demonstrate the Lobster Place Core Values—Respect, Friendliness, Stewardship, Professionalism, Quality, and Dedication—in every action.  
  • Exhibit and uphold the company's hospitality standards.  
  • Perform additional duties as requested or required. 
Qualifications:

  • Giving great first impressions by promptly greeting and creating meaningful connections with everyone who walks through Lobster Place doors! 
  • Desire and dedication to learn 
  • 1+ years’ experience in a guest-facing restaurant role in a high-volume atmosphere 
  • Friendly, outgoing, positive, and hardworking person 
  • Possess the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment 
  • Punctual, reliable, and must be able to work weekends 
  • Work well with a team and communicate effectively 
  • Ability to multi-task and problem-solve 
Pay & Benefits:

  • Hourly Rate: $11.00/hr (plus up to $35/ hour in TIPS!)

Working Conditions:

  • Perform physical tasks and movements in a fast-paced environment for an extended period. 
  • Consistently operate POS devices and kitchen equipment consistently are operated, including but not limited to beer taps, ice machines, and kettles. 
  • Prepare guest orders and services related to food and beverage delivery. 
  • Maneuver around small spaces, behind counters, and between kitchen machinery. 
  • Exposures encountered include loud noises and extreme heat/cold temperatures. 
  • Move and transport items weighing up to 30 pounds. 
  • Utilize stairs frequently in a two-level workspace. 
  • Consistently move self to access low/ground-level or high-level shelves and supplies as needed.
