Responsibilities:

  • Assist Sushi Chefs with daily food preparation and department operations.
  • Prepare ingredients, including vegetables, sauces, garnishes, and sushi rice.
  • Prepare basic sushi rolls and other simple menu items according to company recipes and presentation standards.
  • Prepare and package grab-and-go and takeout orders as needed.
  • Restock ingredients, supplies, and packaging materials throughout the shift.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked sushi station, prep area, and refrigeration units.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department requirements.
  • Properly label, date, rotate, and store all prepared products.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning equipment, tools, and workstations.
  • Communicate with Sushi Chefs and management regarding inventory levels, product needs, and operational concerns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Sushi Department.

Qualifications:

  • Previous kitchen or food preparation experience is preferred but not required.
  • Interest in learning sushi preparation and Japanese cuisine.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency.
  • Ability to follow recipes and presentation standards.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Food Handler Certification is preferred, or the ability to obtain one.
