About North Miznon and Chef Eyal Shani

Chef Eyal Shani owns and operates 25 restaurants worldwide, including Miznon, North Miznon and HaSalon in NYC with upcoming expansion plans throughout the US. He is considered to be one of the leading figures in the Israeli culinary scene, starring in the TV series Food for Thought and appearing on the panel of judges during the past six seasons of Israeli Master Chef. Eyal’s restaurants combine traditional Israeli flavors focused on seasonal ingredients with a lively atmosphere to bring the vibes of Tel Aviv here to New York City. Follow @eyaltomato.

North Miznon is a full-service restaurant on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. North embodies the true spirit of Eyal Shani’s restaurant serving uniquely Israeli dishes in an upbeat atmosphere. The restaurant serves dinner 5 nights a week in addition to weekend brunch and also runs a robust private event program.

About the Role

We’re seeking a strong Front of House Manager to join the team at North Miznon. This person will work closely with our General Manager/Head Chef to ensure an amazing front of house experience for both our guests and our staff. While some management experience is preferred, this is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to grow into a true General Manager position down the road. It is a salaried, full-time position with a flexible start date.

Responsibilities

  • Ultimate ownership of all FOH operations. Manage a team of FOH staff including servers, floor managers, runners, hosts and bartenders. Responsibilities include training, salary and tips management, hiring/firing and scheduling.
  • Guest relations including conflict resolution, VIP relationship management (both traditional VIPs and regular guests), and coordinating with the host team regarding reservations. This person will also oversee all operations within the Resy system.
  • Management of FOH budget and P&L including vendor invoices, etc.
  • Oversight of private events in tandem with our Events Manager. While this of course is not an Events Manager position, ownership of and responsibility for events is crucial.
  • Ultimate responsibility for cleanliness and upkeep of the physical space.
  • Work closely with the General Manager to execute a seamless Front and Back of House operation.
  • Personality is key. Must be charismatic, excited about what we’re doing, and excited about coming into work. We believe service is about the unconventional guest experience, not just dining by technical standards. This person should also be passionate about service and love their job.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of restaurant management experience
  • Experience with upscale dining and guest relations
  • Some experiencing managing a budget and P&L
  • Experience managing multiple individuals
  • Knowledge of Resy and Toast a plus
  • Must be extremely solutions oriented, an excellent problem solver and a quick learner.
