Description

A skilled Line Cook at Platinum Dining Group prepares delicious meals according to the menu. He/She will cook dishes that will delight our customers with their taste and timely delivery.  An excellent Line Cook must be able to follow instructions in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals. They must be deft in moving around the kitchen and apt in multi-tasking. Experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques is also important.  The goal is to help preserve and enhance the reputation of the restaurant.  The Line Cook is generally assigned a particular station ​in the kitchen. ​Line cooks may be expected to work different stations throughout the course of a workday.​ They can be assigned any task in the kitchen and they are expected to follow implicit orders. A line cook may either be assigned to cook a full dish or carry out a particular function required in the preparation.  This position actively embodies, inspires, & elevates the values of Platinum Dining Group.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Follow and fulfill the duties given by the ​Executive Chef, Sous Chefs​, or senior ​line cooks

  • Keep stations clean and well stocked with the ingredients required to cook the dish that they are asked to prepare

  • Keeping the kitchen clean and sanitized

  • Fulfilling duties on time so as not to delay the preparation of the dish

  • Use ingredients in the right proportion and be aware of the exact procedure of preparation of food

  • Have a strong knowledge and understanding of Delaware Department of Health for food safety standards

  • Enjoys providing great hospitality

Qualifications:

  • Excellent Emotional Self Awareness under pressure while maintaining a respectful, warm presence

  • Curious Intelligence to continue learning in the position

  • Proven experience as a cook

  • Experience in using cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware

  • Knowledge of various culinary procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)

  • Ability to work swiftly and efficiently

  • Good sense of taste and smell

  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of menu items

  • Ability to perform any function around the kitchen

  • Must be able to deliver high quality work

  • Ability to work in a team

  • Very good communication skills

  • Knowledge of a second language is a plus

Other:

  • Must be able to lift 40-pound boxes 

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, 8-hour shifts

  • Possible job hazards include, but are not limited to; slips, trips, falls, burns, cuts, and strains

  • Frequently reaches, lifts, stoops, bends, pivots, and cleans to maintain service area

  • Must have good physical condition and stamina

  • Additional duties may be assigned as deemed necessary
