General Manager – The Wheelwright’s Arms, Havant
Up to £47,000 + Bonus + up to £5,000 Tronc

About Us
The Wheelwright’s Arms isn’t just a pub — it’s the pub. We’re the place where Sunday roasts are a weekly ritual, the pints are always cold, the gravy’s always hot, and the welcome’s always warmer than your nan’s hug.

We’re part of Upham Inns, a family of gorgeous pubs across Southern England. That means you get the charm of a proper local with the perks, training, and career growth of a bigger company. Win-win.

The Gig
We need a General Manager who’s equal parts leader, host, and fixer-of-everything. Someone who can keep the team inspired, the guests delighted, and the business booming — all while making it look effortless (and maybe cracking the occasional joke).

The Perks:

  • Up to £47,000 per annum + Bonus + Tronc (up to £5,000/year)

  • Flexible shifts — because you’ve got a life too

  • 33% off food for you and up to 6 guests

  • Hotel discounts (because everyone needs a getaway)

  • Career development with a clear growth pathway

  • Lifestyle Card with 5,000+ discounts — from coffee to cinema

  • Service awards & referral bonuses (up to £1,000)

  • Work for a company that’s big enough to support you, small enough to care

You’ll be the sort of person who:

  • Can walk into a room and instantly make people feel welcome

  • Has 1+ year as a GM in a premium pub

  • Knows your P&L from your IPA

  • Can lead a team without losing your cool (or your sense of humour)

  • Loves hospitality — like, really loves it

  • Is happy to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays (because that’s when the magic happens)

What you’ll actually do:

  • Lead the team from the front — part coach, part motivator, part bad-joke teller

  • Keep guests smiling and coming back for more

  • Manage the serious stuff — P&L, stock, labour costs — without killing the vibe

  • Be the face of The Wheelwright’s Arms in the local community

  • Make sure the pub is safe, compliant, and always looking its best

So if you’re ready to take the reins, run a pub you can be proud of, and become part of a growing family that values people as much as profit — pull yourself a pint, click apply and get that CV over to us.
